Club Promotion / Relegation Between Divisions
The top 2 and bottom 4 clubs in each league are promoted (move up) and relegated (move down) in the division hierarchy, respectively. Promotion and relegation are between divisions; leagues #a to #h in the same division are considered equivalent. The number of promotions and relegations are always equal to each other. Thus, of the 300 clubs, 56 change which division they are in at the end of each season.

The obvious exceptions are: 1) the top 2 clubs in Division 1 cannot move up because they are in the top division, and 2) the bottom 4 clubs in Division 4 cannot move down as they are in the bottom division.
